Windows2000 Installation Guide

Hardware Installation

  1. Turn off your computer then un-plug all cables except power.
  2. Open the computer cover and insert the Sound Card on PCI slot.
  3. Secure the card onto the Slot.
  4. Replace your computer cover and reconnect all peripheral cables.
  5. Restart your computer and prepare driver installation.

Driver Installation

  1. Boot up Windows2000.
  2. After turning on the system, Windows2000 begins loading and starts detecting new hardware which installed on the system.
  3. When Windows2000 detects a new presence on the system, it will search new drivers in its driver database automatically.

    (Windows2000 will install built-in, compatible drivers for listing AOpen models:

    AW35, AW37, AW180, AW230, AW300, AW320, AW724, AW744)

  4. When Windows2000 recognizes the new sound card presence from its database, it will install drivers for this presence

    from its driver database and will not require from user.

  5. If Windows2000 does not recognize the new sound card presence from its database, the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box displays.

Windows2000 built-in, compatible drivers for AOpen Sound Cards

Windows2000 will install built-in, compatible drivers for listing AOpen models, then makes changes to the system settings

and adds new hardware components in Device Manager.

For future upgrade Drivers

AOpen will regularly publish all modelsíª upgrade drivers on our website.

To upgrade windows2000 drivers, please complete with the following installation procedures.

  1. Boot up Windows2000.
  2. Go through My Computer->Control Panel->Sounds and Media->Hardware page.
  3. For all Hardware Components( listed for each model above), click Properties button and

    Select driver page.

  4. Click Update driver button and go through the upgrade procedures.

NOTE:

1. During upgrade procedures, some warning messages might popup.

1-1 Downgrade warning.

Some driver files in WDM driver patches are shared for both Windows98(4.10.X) and Windows2000

(5.0.X) OS system, please ignore this message.

How to record sound under Windows9X/NT/2000

Since the default recording input source has not been set to Microphone, if Microphone is to be used, please complete the following installation procedures.

a) To select input sound source:

a-1) Double click the horn icon on windows' task bar, and you will see the Volume Control window pop-up.

a-2) Go through Options->Properties->Recording pop up.

a-3) Then select the Microphone as the input source.

b) To Boost your Microphone:

Input level might be different for different microphones, To enhance your microphone input level, you can boost you microphone with following steps.

b-1) Double click the horn icon on windows' task bar, and you will see the Volume Control window pop-up.

b-2) Select Options->Advanced controls.

b-3) Click the Advanced button in Microphone menu.

b-4) Enable Microphone Boost.

c) To setup Recording tools:

c-1) Quality setup: usually recording applications provide Telephone, Radio and CD quality formats, please select one you prefer before you do the recording.
